The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality strives to protect our state's human and natural resources consistent with sustainable economic development. Our goal is clean air, clean water, and the safe management of waste.

H2O 4 TEXAS
Without a sufficient supply of clean, affordable water, our economy and public health will be irrevocably harmed. H2O4TEXAS will increase public awareness of the critical water shortfalls facing our state and begin mobilizing support for full implementation of the State Water Plan.

TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD
The Texas Water Development Board’s (TWDB) mission is to provide leadership, planning, financial assistance, information, and education for the conservation and responsible development of water for Texas. Our mission is a vital part of Texas’ overall vision and its mission and goals which relate to maintaining the viability of the state’s natural resources, health and economic development.

To accomplish its goals of planning for the state’s water resources and for providing affordable water and wastewater services, the TWDB provides water planning, data collection and dissemination, financial assistance and technical assistance services to the citizens of Texas.

The tremendous population growth that the state has and will continue to experience, and the continual threat of severe drought, only intensify the need for the TWDB to accomplish its goals in an effective and efficient manner. The following links provide more information about the TWDB.

    LOWER COLORADO RIVER AUTHORITY
LCRA plays a variety of roles in Central Texas: delivering electricity, managing the water supply and environment of the lower Colorado River basin, developing water and wastewater utilities, providing public recreation areas, and supporting community and economic development. The mission of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is to provide reliable, low-cost utility and public services in partnership with our customers and communities and to use our leadership and environmental authority to ensure the protection and constructive use of the area's natural resources.

LCRA is a Texas conservation and reclamation district operating with no taxing authority.

    BRAZOS RIVER AUTHORITY
As a river cuts a path through the heart of Texas, it provides a water source for thousands of homes and businesses. The Brazos River Authority was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and was the first State agency in the United States created specifically for the purpose of developing and managing the water resources of an entire river basin. Today, the Authority's staff of 250 develop and distribute water supplies, provide water and wastewater treatment, monitor water quality, and pursue water conservation through public education programs. Although the Brazos River Authority is an agency of the State of Texas, it does not levy or collect taxes. Except for occasional governmental grants to help pay the costs of specific projects, the Authority is entirely self-supporting. The Authority maintains and operates its reservoirs and treatment systems using revenues from the customers it serves.
