What is a Special Utility District (S.U.D.)?
The purpose of a S.U.D. is to provide water and wastewater to residents and businesses in a geographically defined service area. A S.U.D. is a tax-exempt, public body exempt from property taxes and sales tax. The District does not have the authority to levy taxes, and must operate only on revenues and fees generated from the water and wastewater services.
Who governs Chisholm Trail S.U.D.?
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality sets forth a water code (rules) for special utility districts to operate under. Chisholm is subject to the requirements of Chapters 49 and 65 of the Texas Water Code.
What is a C.C.N.?
The District provides water service under a water Certificate of Convenience & Necessity No.11590. The area is generally bounded on the east by IH 35, the south by the South San Gabriel River, the west by the Burnet County/Williamson County, North by the Lampasas River. The area is approximately 340 square miles and the District has customers in Bell, Burnet and Williamson Counties.
Who runs Chisholm Trail S.U.D.?
Anyone who owns land in the District, uses the Districts system, or is registered to vote is qualified to be on the District's Board of Directors. Chisholm is a non-profit government entity. It is not a corporation. The District came into existence in 1992 and the elections are general elections held in May of each year. You must submit an application to run for director by March of each year. Seven Board members are elected for three year terms with staggered terms.

If I haven't used any water then why am I being charged $37.00?
That charge is a minimum charge (base rate) for a 3/4" meter and covers fixed costs incurred by the District.
Where does Chisholm get the water from?
Chisholm Trail S.U.D. supplies water through two sources, Lake Georgetown and the Edwards Aquifer.
Is your water soft water?
Our water is usually considered very hard so those customers with water softener systems set your softner level between 13 and 18 grains.
